Gerd Schreiner (born May 14, 1970 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Rabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium in Mainz in 1989 , Schreiner studied architecture at the TU Darmstadt , just like his grandfather Rudolf Schreiner and his father Peter Schreiner . He then went into business for himself as an architect in Mainz. Gerd Schreiner is deputy chairman of the church council of the evangelical Melanchthon parish in Mainz. He is a member of the Mainz Satchel Guard .

Gerd Schreiner is married and has four children.

Schreiner joined the CDU in 1987. Since 1997 he has represented the constituency of Mainz I as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament (elected from the state list). In the state parliament he is deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. Previously, he was a spokesman for European issues, commissioner for accessibility, inclusion and participation and also budget and financial policy spokesman for 13 years. From 1999 to 2014 he was a member of the Mainz city ​​council . In 2019 he was re-elected to the Mainz City Council, this time with 25,705 votes.

In June 2019, Schreiner became acting general secretary of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate. At the party conference in November 2019, Schreiner was confirmed as Secretary General of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate with 94% of the votes cast as the successor to Christoph Gensch .
