Klaus-Dieter Tschiche (* 1941 in Magdeburg ) is chairman of the board of the Augustiner-Verein eV and the Augustiner-Stiftung in Grimma . Before that, the pedagogue directed the fortunes of the St. Augustin grammar school in Grimma as headmaster for more than 14 years . He was the 30th rector of this traditional educational institution. As an SPD member, he was active in local politics in the city council of Grimma for many years until May 2019.

School and study

After attending the village school in his hometown of Kossa in the Dübener Heide , Tschiche came to Grimma in 1955 to what is now the St. Augustin Grimma grammar school, where he graduated from high school in 1959. He then studied pedagogy in Leipzig .

Teacher and headmaster

After completing his studies in 1963 Tschiche returned to his former school in Grimma as a teacher of mathematics and physics . In 1971 he moved to the First High School in Grimma before returning to the St. Augustin High School as headmaster in 1991. There he worked up to the age limit.

When Klaus-Dieter Tschiche took over as headmaster in 1991, she was at a crossroads: After almost 400 years of princely and state school and around 40 years of socialist extended secondary school, her place in the school landscape had to be redefined. “It's not about the restoration of nostalgic forms of tradition, but about making the model of the Princely and State School usable for our times” - says Tschiche. Support came from the Association of Former Princely Students .

Tschiches commitment was evident in the preparations for the 450th foundation festival for the St. Augustin High School in 2000, which included additional tasks such as construction work on the historic school building, the completion of the restoration of the cloister, the rededication of the statues of King Albert and Elector Moritz , the publication of the school history jubilee book, the opening of the school library, the accompaniment of the large high school companies theater, choir and Augustiner Blätter as well as securing the existence of the boarding school, which has been part of the school since 1550.

Numerous other challenges followed, for example due to the flood devastation on the school grounds on August 13, 2002 and various problems during the prescribed merger of the two grammar schools in Grimma until 2006.
