Bodo Seidenthal

Bodo Seidenthal (born June 26, 1947 in Königslutter ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

life and career

Bodo Seidenthal completed secondary school with a secondary school leaving certificate and completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker. After the skilled worker examination, he worked for several years as a toolmaker at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg . On the second educational path, he acquired the technical college entrance qualification and completed a mechanical engineering degree as an engineer (grad.). In addition, he did his military service in the Bundeswehr. From 1978 he worked as an engineer in the research and development department of Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg.

politics

In 1967 he joined the SPD and in 1970 IG Metall . Since March 1987 he was deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district Helmstedt and a member of the board of the SPD district Braunschweig. Since 1974 he was a member of the council of the city of Königslutter and from September 2001 to May 2003 first deputy mayor.

From 1987 to 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag . In 1998 he was elected directly in the Helmstedt-Wolfsburg Bundestag constituency , and in the other elections he was elected from the SPD's state list. In the 14th electoral term he was a member of the Bundestag Presidium as secretary. In December 2000 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . In 2011 he received the Willy Brandt Medal .

Seidenthal is Protestant, married and has a daughter.
