Hans Hinrich Flöter

Hans Hinrich Flöter (born August 3, 1910 in Brake ; † July 3, 2011 there ) was a German theologian and educator .

Life

Flöter studied religious studies , philosophy , classical philology , history and art history in Berlin and received a doctorate in both Protestant theology and philosophy. During the National Socialist rule he was pastor in Halle , Merseburg and Wittenberg . In the last days of World War II, he became a soldier and was taken prisoner, where he founded a camp university. After the war he was a teacher at the grammar school. From 1951 to 1959 he taught at the University of Los Angeles. Up to the age of 95 he worked at the local adult education center in Brake and headed a home adult education center in Springe for more than ten years.

From 1951 Hans Flöter was a member of the SPD and trained his party comrades in moral philosophy. In 2000 he was honored with the Willy Brandt Medal.

On the night of February 27-28, 1933, he discovered and reported the fire in the Reichstag .
