Günter Erlewein

Günter Erlewein (born May 6, 1928 in Munich ) is a German trade unionist, politician ( SPD ) and multifunctional. From 1968 to 1988 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Erlewein came to Heilbronn as a child . After attending school in Heilbronn, working and doing military service, Erlewein became a tram operator on the Heilbronn tram in 1945 . From 1953 he was a works council there . In 1955/56 he studied at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main and then entered the service of the ÖTV trade union , which he served as legal protection officer and tariff clerk from 1956 to 1964, and as managing director and chairman of ÖTV Heilbronn from 1964 to 1974. From 1974 to 1978 he was chairman of the DGB district of Baden-Württemberg.

From 1966 to 1975 Erlewein was chairman of the local SPD association in Heilbronn, and from 1970 to 1972 he was also chairman of the Heilbronn SPD district association. He was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg from May 1968 to February 1988 for the constituency of Heilbronn-Stadt and (from 1976) for the constituency of Heilbronn , in 1968 and 1972 with a direct mandate, from 1976 with a second mandate. In the state parliament, Erlewein was a member of the finance committee.

Erlewein is a Protestant denomination , and his marriage to his wife Hede (1924–2011) had three children. In addition to his positions in trade unions and politics, he held a variety of honorary positions. He was state chairman of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Baden-Württemberg, deputy district chairman of the European Union in Heilbronn and for 34 years a member of the board of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Heilbronn. Until February 2012, Erlewein was chairman of the VdK district association Heilbronn.

Awards

Günter Erlewein was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1974, the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1978, and the Great Cross of Merit in 1985. In 1988 he received the Ring of Honor of the City of Heilbronn, in 1990 the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg , and in 2008 the Willy Brandt Medal of the SPD. The Croatian city of Osijek made him an honorary citizen as a thank you for the transport of aid with food and medicine, which he organized for the Lions Club from 1989 onwards . The VdK district association Heilbronn appointed him honorary chairman for his services in 2012.
