Oxypsila abdominalis is a fly from the family of nude flies (Psilidae).
features
The flies reach a body length of 7.0 to 8.0 millimeters. Her head and thorax are yellowish in color, the mesonotum is reddish and the abdomen is black. There are no post-vertical bristles on the head. The label ( scutellum ) has two strong bristles on the edge. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are straight and not thickened in the male. The laying pipe of the females is not sclerotized and can be pulled in.
Occurrence and way of life
The animals are found in Central Europe and colonize the herbaceous layer of humid habitats on the edge of water. They live mainly in the mountains.
