State Operetta (film)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

State Operetta is an Austrian television production.

The State Operetta based on Otto M. Zykan , filmed by Franz Novotny , addresses the phase between the end of the First World War and the February battles in 1934 in the form of an operetta parody in a snappy, caricature-like manner. When it was broadcast on November 30, 1977, the State Operetta caused a media scandal. Even before the planned broadcast on the national holiday, the characters drawn, for example Engelbert Dollfuss as a warbling wind-up figure and Ignaz Seipel as a slimy crawler in front of the Duce and a “murderous clergyman”, were classified as dangerous in terms of state politics.
