Bernd Meerbach

Bernd Meerbach (born October 23, 1943 ) is a former rower from the GDR .

Meerbach started for the ASK Vorwärts Rostock . He won his first GDR championship title together with Manfred Wiesner in 1967 in a double without a helmsman . In 1968, the two took second place. Meerbach was nominated as a substitute rower for the 1968 Olympic Games , but was not used in Mexico.

In 1969 Meerbach drove in a four without a helmsman together with Karl-Heinz Prudöhl , Werner Klatt and Peter Gorny . This foursome won the GDR championships and the bronze medal at the European championships . The following year, Klatt were and Gorny world champion, while Karl-Heinz Prudöhl, in twos without Jochen Mietzner , Rolf Zimmermann , Bernd Meerbach and helmsman Karl-Heinz Danielowski in the coxed four world championship won -Silber behind the Bodensee four. When he won the GDR championship, Günter Roock was still in the boat instead of Zimmermann.
