IC 2039 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 29 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 10,000 ly. Together with IC 2038 , it probably forms a gravitationally bound duo.
The galaxies NGC 1533 , NGC 1536 , IC 2032 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on December 8, 1899 .
