NGC 1533 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 28 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1536 , IC 2032 , IC 2038 , IC 2039 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 5, 1834 .
