NGC 1515 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 45 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter. With the galaxy PGC 14388 it forms an optical galaxy pair .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 2024 and IC 2033 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 23, 1837 .
