NGC 1522 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / P in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is an estimated 33 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 10,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 27, 1834 .
