NGC 1526 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Reticulum in the southern sky . It is an estimated 231 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 2, 1834 .
