NGC 1519 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 78 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across. It is a member of the six-galaxy NGC 1519 group ( LGG 109 ).
The object was discovered on January 2nd, 1878 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
