The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is an airport in Reno in the US state of Nevada . It also serves to connect the ski and resort area on Lake Tahoe . It is also used militarily as Reno Air National Guard Base by the Nevada Air National Guard .
Location and transport links
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is four kilometers southeast of downtown Reno. The Interstate 580 and US Highway 395 running on a common route west of the airport. In addition, Nevada State Route 659 runs east and south of the airport.
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is integrated into the local public transport system by buses , routes 12 and 19 of the RTC regularly connect the passenger terminal with the city center of Reno.
history
The airport was built in 1929 by Transport Boeing Air built and after the Boeing Vice President Eddie Hubbard as Hubbard Field called. In 1936 it was taken over by United Airlines , who built the first reception building. In 1953, the airport was leased by the city of Reno, and in 1956, work began on today's terminal building in Squaw Valley with a view to the 1960 Winter Olympics . Since 1954, located at the airport and the Reno Air National Guard Base , where units of the National Guard are stationed Nevada. In 1994 the airport was given its current name, previously it was called (Reno) Cannon International Airport .

The Reno-Tahoe International Airport has a total area of 587 hectares.
Runways
Reno-Tahoe International Airport has three runways . The longest runway has the identification 16R / 34L, is 3,353 meters long and 46 meters wide. It is equipped with a Precision Approach Path Indicator , an instrument landing system and a rotary radio beacon . The parallel runway 16L / 34R is 2,743 meters long and 46 meters wide. It is also equipped with a PAPI system and a rotating radio beacon, but also has runway end identifier lights . High-intensity runway edge lights are also installed on the parallel runways . The cross wind runway 07/25 is 1,860 meters long and 46 meters wide. It is equipped with a PAPI system and runway end identifier lights. All runways have a concrete surface.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport has a passenger terminal with two concourses and a floor area of 448,650 square feet and 41,681 square meters, respectively . This is equipped with a total of 23 gates and just as many passenger boarding bridges . Since the number of passengers has fallen sharply in the meantime, many gates are not used.
Concourse B
The southern Concourse B is equipped with eleven piers, these are designated B1 to B11. Pier B10 is the only pier at the airport that is designed for use by wide-body aircraft. A maximum of narrow-body aircraft can be handled at the remaining piers . It is used by Delta Air Lines , Jetblue Airways and Southwest Airlines .
Concourse C
The northern Concourse C is equipped with twelve piers, these are designated C1 to C12. All gates are designed for aircraft up to the size of narrow-body aircraft. It is used by Alaska Airlines , Allegiant Air , American Airlines , Frontier Airlines , United Airlines and Volaris .
Other facilities
To the north of the passenger terminal are freight terminals from DHL , FedEx and UPS Airlines . DHL and UPS share a building.
South of the passenger terminal is the Reno Air National Guard Base of the Nevada Air National Guard . On the basis of the 152nd Airlift Wing is stationed, which only with transport aircraft of type Lockheed C-130H is fitted.
Airlines and Destinations
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is used by nine passenger airlines and three cargo airlines. Around 4.2 million passengers were handled at the airport in 2018, the largest provider being Southwest Airlines , followed by American Airlines .
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is primarily connected to the major hubs in the United States . The only international connection currently on offer is Volaris with flights to Guadalajara .
