The Airports Council International (ACI) is the leading international umbrella organization of airport operators based in Montreal , Canada .

history

Before the Airports Council International was founded, the airports were represented internationally by the Airport Associations Coordinating Council (AACC) . This organization was founded in 1970 by the Airport Operators Council International (AOCI) , the International Civil Airports Association (ICAA) and the Western European Airports Association (WEAA) . The Airport Council International emerged from the AACC in 1991.

The organization's headquarters were relocated from Geneva to Montreal in 2010.

Members

As of January 2016, the ACI has 592 members who operate more than 1,853 airports in 173 states and territories . In 2015, ACI members handled more than 7.1 billion passengers, 105 million tons of cargo and 86 million aircraft movements.
