Surplus measurement

Surplus or excess measurements are mainly used in geodesy and other technical disciplines for the following purposes:

• Increase in accuracy - see also averaging and equalization calculation
• Check for possible data and measurement errors
• Increase in reliability
• Statement about the accuracy of the measurements and the result - see error propagation
