George Tupou II (1895)

George Tupou II (Tongan: Siaosi Tupou II ; born June 18, 1874 in Neiafu ; † April 5, 1918 ) was king of the South Pacific Kingdom of Tonga from 1893 until his death . His maternal (and paternal) great-grandfather was the first King of Tonga, George Tupou I. His parents were cousin and his grandparents were brother and sister.

In 1898 he married the Princess of Tahiti Edith Marie Pomare Wahine von Eimeo , and in 1899 he married Lavinia Veiongo. The marriage had a daughter, who later became Queen Salote . After Lavinia Veiongo's death of tuberculosis in 1902, he married 16-year-old ʻAnaseini Takipō in 1909, who gave birth to two more daughters.
