Brandon Leray Rush (born July 7, 1985 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA .
Career
college
Rush played college basketball for the University of Kansas . In his freshman season (his first season at that college) there, he started every game as a small forward . He was able to record 13.5 points and 5.9 rebounds this season and became the first freshman ever to be elected to the First Team All-Big 12. The next player to do that was Kevin Durant for the Texas Longhorns. He would have competed in the 2007 NBA Draft , but injuries kept him from doing so. So he stayed in Kansas. After his return to the starting five after injury, he and his team won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship title in 2008.
NBA
In the 2008 NBA Draft , Rush was drafted 13th by the Portland Trail Blazers , so selected to be traded to the Indiana Pacers for Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu together with Jarrett Jack and Josh McRoberts .
On December 19, 2011, Rush was traded for Louis Amundson to the Golden State Warriors .
On August 1, 2012, Rush extended his contract for two years. He suffered a serious injury on November 2, 2012, in the game against the Memphis Grizzlies, which left him out for the rest of the season. On July 10, 2013 he was transferred to the Utah Jazz together with Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins . In Jazz, however, Rush could not build on his performance from Warrior times and left Jazz after the end of the season.
He then signed again with the Golden State Warriors a two-year contract, with which he won the title in the 2014/15 season.
On July 6, 2016, Rush signed a 1-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves .
