The NBA All-Star Game in 2016 was the 65th edition of the All-Star Game of the NBA and was part of the All-Star Weekend on February 14, 2016 at Air Canada Center in Toronto played, the home of the Toronto Raptors .
Trainer
The head coaches of the two teams were traditionally provided by the two best teams at the respective conference. Since Steve Kerr from the Golden State Warriors had already acted as head coach for the Western All-Stars last year, and was therefore not allowed to work on the sidelines as head coach at the All-Star Game in Toronto, as was his assistant coach Luke Walton who was not included as interim head coach until January, Gregg Popovich , coach of the San Antonio Spurs, has been named head coach of the Western All-Stars for the fourth time. In the east, Tyronn Lue was appointed head coach by the Cleveland Cavaliers , even though at the time of the announcement he was only the head coach of the Cavs for three games , in which he replaced the dismissed David Blatt .
Squad
The starters of the All-Star Games were chosen by the fans in an internet voting. Kobe Bryant managed to lead the voting in his last NBA season and was thus chosen in his 18th and last All-Star Game. The substitutes were chosen by the 15 head coaches of their respective conference. The coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. They also had to choose two backcourts, three frontcourts, and two position-independent players.
1 Gasol was nominated for the injured Jimmy Butler.
2 Horford was made up for the injured Chris Bosh.
