William Denard "Will" Barton (born January 6, 1991 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Denver Nuggets in the NBA .

Career

Barton was voted 40th in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers . He spent three years there, where he rarely saw game time, and in the meantime also played for the Blazers farm team, the Idaho Stampede , before he was sent to Denver in 2015 as part of a five-player trade.

Barton made his breakthrough with the nuggets. Despite his role as a bank player, his playing time doubles. In the 2015–16 season, Barton achieved career highs as a bench player in 81 games with 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists. In the subsequent election for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award , he was fourth.
