Torrey Craig (born December 19, 1990 in Columbia, South Carolina ) is an American basketball player .
career
Craig grew up without a father, his mother was temporarily imprisoned for drug offenses, so that he was raised in particular by his grandmother and his big sister. He played as a student at Great Falls High School in his home state of South Carolina . In 2010 he moved to the University of South Carolina - Upstate in the first NCAA division and began studying communications . He played there until 2014 and, with 2,128 points, was second on the university team's eternal basketball list when he left. In his four years at the University of South Carolina - Upstate, he averaged 16.2 points per match. With a total of 297 three-point throws hit and 944 rebounds, Craig, whose teammate also included the German Mario Blessing , set new records for “USC Upstate”. In 2011/12, Craig was named Player of the Year at the Atlantic Sun Conference .
When the NBA draft proceedings in 2014, Craig was not considered, he then moved to the Australian team Cairns Taipans in the NBL . Craig played for various teams in Australia and New Zealand until 2017 . In the 2016/17 season he was named the best defender in the league and averaged 15.2 points and 8 rebounds per encounter for the Brisbane Bullets . He then played in the spring season 2017 for the Gold Coast Rollers in the Australian Queensland Basketball League and triumphed there with averages of 28.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per match.
In the summer of 2017, Craig played for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA's summer league in his home country and was then awarded a contract. In the 2017/18 NBA season he achieved averages of 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per use, impressed in particular with his defense performance and received a contract extension in Denver in the summer of 2018.
