Monté Robert Morris (born June 27, 1995 in Grand Rapids , Michigan ) is an American basketball player . The point guard is currently under contract with the Denver Nuggets in the NBA .
High school and college
Born in Grand Rapids , Michigan , Monté Robert Morris grew up in Flint , where he attended Flint Beecher High School . In all four years he led his team, the Buccaneers , on points, assists and steals. Morris finally decided on Iowa State University in 2013 after several offers . There he spent every four years averaging 16 and 5.5 assists per game before signing up for the 2017 NBA draft .
NBA
In the draft, he was selected in 51st position by the Denver Nuggets . After the NBA Summer League , he signed a two-way contract with the Colorado state franchise . On October 23, 2017, he and his teammate Tyler Lydon were assigned to the NBA G-League team Rio Grande Valley Vipers . He made his debut in the NBA on December 12, 2017 against the Detroit Pistons , where he was able to book an assist in three minutes of play. Only two more were added to this mission in the further 2017/18 season . In the G-League he averaged 18 points and 6.6 assists per game.
For the 2018-19 season , Morris signed a three-year deal with the Nuggets and stepped into the rotation as second point guard behind Jamal Murray during the season . On October 25, he reached a new personal career record against the Los Angeles Lakers with 20 points. On February 2, 2019, he marked his first double-double in the NBA with 17 points and 10 assists . This season he was used in all 82 games, in which we get an average of 10.4 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds.
