Evjen started playing football at FK Mjølner in his hometown Narvik and was considered the region's greatest talent from an early age. At the age of 15 he made his debut in the first team and at the age of 16 he was one of the top performers of the fourth division and thus came into the focus of higher-class clubs.

In September 2016 he switched to the youth department of the second division club FK Bodø / Glimt . A year later, he signed his first professional contract with the Northern Norwegian team , but was still only on duty for the reserve. On October 22, 2017 (28th matchday) he made his debut at the club, which had already been promoted, when he came on as a substitute for Jens Petter Hauge in the 4-1 away win against FK Jerv in the second half . In the two other league games of the 2017 season he was used as a substitute.

In the rest of the 2018 season he established himself as a rotation player at Glimt. On May 27 (matchday 12) he scored his first goal in professional football in a 4-0 home win against Ranheim Fotball . In this game year he was used in 15 league games in which he scored one goal. In the 2018 season he made his breakthrough in the top Norwegian league. First he made his breakthrough in the Glimts starting lineup. After the first half of the season, the winger already had four goals and three assists and was surprisingly in first place with his club. On August 5 (matchday 16) he marked his first brace in a 3-1 away win against Strømsgodset IF . As a result, Evjen was able to further improve his goal scoring and cracked the ten-goal mark in a 4-0 home win against Tromsø IL on September 29 . Evjen ended the season with 13 goals and six assists in 29 league games.

His move to the Dutch honorary division AZ Alkmaar was announced in September 2019 , where a 4-1 / 2-year contract started on January 1, 2020. He made his league debut on January 31, 2020 (21st match day) in a 4-0 home win against RKC Waalwijk , when he came on for Calvin Stengs in the 65th minute of the game . In the 2019/20 season, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he played three league games.
