Pulford is a village and civil parish in the Unitary Authority of Cheshire West and Chester in the ceremonial county of Cheshire , England. It is on the B5445 road, southwest of Chester and on the border with Wales . The name of the village is believed to be derived from the Welsh words Pwll ("march") and Ffordd ("transition"). According to the 2001 census , the community had 395 inhabitants; in 2011 the number of inhabitants had risen to 580.

There are several notable structures in the Parish, including a castle, a church and a hotel.

Pulford Castle - the structure is no longer preserved, only the earthworks of the castle are still preserved and are located behind the church of St Mary - was a small Norman defensive structure with a motte and courtyard on the edge of the village. The castle was built in a strategic place to protect a road and a river crossing and was built around the year 1000. A garrison was located here during the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr in 1403.

The Pulford Parish Church is a St. Mary's Church, rebuilt 1844th The design comes from John Douglas , the building was donated by Hugh Lupus Grosvenor, 1st Duke of Westminster . The first mention of a church on this site dates from the 12th century, and the first parish priest is named Hugo in ancient documents. The top of the church tower is around 40 meters high. In the 1980s, a fire destroyed the roof of the church tower, which was later restored.

There is a large hotel in town, the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel. Grosvenor is the family name of the Duke of Westminster , whose seat is in nearby Eaton Hall .
