The 2001 United Kingdom Census was the 20th census in the United Kingdom . It was conducted on Sunday, April 29, 2001 and resulted in a population of 58,789,194.
Results
Religions
The Census Act of 2000 first allowed questions about the beliefs of participants. Accordingly, they professed the following religions:
- Christianity : 72.0%
- Islam : 3%
- Hinduism : 1%
- Sikhism : 0.6%
- Judaism : 0.5%
- Buddhism : 0.3%
- Other: 0.3%
In addition, 15% said they did not belong to any religion ( including Jediism ); 8% did not answer this question.
