Personal life

Thomas was named after Isiah Thomas , the former playmaker of the Detroit Pistons . The Pistons won the series with 4-0 victories. His mother, Tina Baldtrip, insisted on the spelling "Isaiah" (Eng. Isaiah), because she wanted a biblical name. Isaiah grew up in Tacoma, Washington state.

His sister Chyna died in a car accident on Interstate 5 in Washington on April 15, 2017 .

Trivia

During the first game of the Conference semifinals on April 30, 2017 against the Washington Wizards , Thomas lost his left front tooth in a collision with his opponent.
