All-Star Game 2009 logo

The 2009 NBA All-Star Game took place in Phoenix on February 15th . The 58th All-Star Game was played at the US Airways Center , home of the Phoenix Suns , the local NBA team. Phoenix was next to Toronto , New York , Oakland and Milwaukee contenders for hosting the event for 2009 and was allowed to host the basketball spectacle for the third time after 1975 and 1995.

The Western Conference team won the game 146-119. The "Most Valuable Player" trophy was shared by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal .

Nate Robinson prevailed against last year's winner Dwight Howard in the final with just 52% of all fan votes (SMS voting) .

Fans picked the fourth entrant from a selection consisting of Joe Alexander of the Milwaukee Bucks , Rudy Fernández of the Portland Trail Blazers , and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder . On January 18, 2009 it was announced that Rudy Fernández may participate in the Slam Dunk Contest .
