Jeremy D Evans (born October 27, 1987 in Crossett , Arkansas ) is an American basketball player .

Career

Evans played for the college team at Western Kentucky University for four years, ending his college career as the best shot blocker in team history. In the 2010 NBA draft he was selected by the Utah Jazz at position 55.

At the NBA All-Star Weekend 2012 Evans took part in the slam dunk contest as a replacement for the injured Iman Shumpert and won it ahead of Paul George .

After the 2011/12 season, Evans extended his contract with the Jazz for three years.

In 2013 he took part again in the Slam Dunk Contest and finished second behind Terrence Ross .

In the course of the rebuilding of the Jazz, many parts of the game fell to Evans. He was able to play his best season in the 2013/14 season with 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds on average. In the following year, however, he no longer played a major role under the new coach Quin Snyder and fell out of the rotation of Jazz.

Evans joined the Dallas Mavericks in the summer of 2015 . After a year with the Mavs, Evans first moved to the Indiana Pacers in the summer of 2016 . However, he was released shortly before the start of the season and then signed with BK Chimki in the Russian VTB United League .

He returned in 2017 and played in the G-League for the Erie BayHawks . In April 2018 he was signed by the Atlanta Hawks for 10 days and played a season game. In summer 2018 he signed with Darüşşafaka SK Istanbul .
