Bradley Emmanuel Beal (* 28. June 1993 in St. Louis , Missouri , United States ) is an American NBA - Basketball players . He plays in the position of the shooting guard .

High school and college

Beal attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis . In his senior season he achieved an average of 32.5 points per game. In 2010, Beal took part in the U17 Basketball World Cup and won the title with the USA. He was named the best player of the tournament.

During the 2011/12 season he played for the Florida Gators , the University of Florida basketball team . During the season he scored an average of 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists (in an average of 34.2 minutes of play). Because of his achievements, he was elected to both the SEC's First Team and the SEC All-Freshman Team. He waived another college season and signed up for the 2012 NBA draft .

NBA

Beal was voted third by the Washington Wizards in the 2012 NBA Draft . During his first season, Beal scored 13.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He was named Rookie of the Month in December 2012 and January 2013. After the season he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and came third in the NBA Rookie of Year election , which Damian Lillard won.

His second year was similarly successful. He formed a young and talented backcourt duo with John Wall . He achieved a career record on November 10, 2013 with 34 points over the Oklahoma City Thunder . He later set another personal record with 37 points against the Memphis Grizzlies .

As part of the NBA All-Star Weekend 2014, he took part in the three-point shootout and finished second behind Marco Belinelli .

With the Wizards, he reached the playoffs in 2014, where they made it to the second playoff round.

In the 2014-2015 season he was unable to match the previous year's performance due to minor injuries. He only made 15 points per game, but threw more efficiently than in previous seasons.

Beal was only able to start 35 games the following season due to injuries and played fewer minutes per game than in any of his previous seasons. Nevertheless, he received a max Capspace contract for 5 years and 127 million dollars in the 2016 offseason.

The next year Bradley was under a lot of pressure because even many of his own fans weren't sure if he was worth that much money. However, he convinced the critics by scoring 23.1 points per game.

In the 2017-2018 season, Beal became more and more of the wizard's achievers, as his backcourt partner John Wall had to suspend many games due to injuries. Due to his strong performance, he was elected to the NBA All-Star Team for the first time. The following year, Beal was again All-Star. Because of Wall's serious injury, Beal took on more responsibility and set new career highs in all categories. Above all, he led the wizards with 25.6 points per game. However, the Wizards clearly missed the playoffs.

In the 2019-20 season, Beal managed to score over 50 points on two consecutive nights. On February 23, he scored 53 points against the Chicago Bulls and set a career record. On the following night against the Milwaukee Bucks , he managed to beat his own record with 55 points. A similar performance with two consecutive 50-point games was last achieved by Kobe Bryant in 2007. Despite a high average of over 28 points per game, Beal was not nominated for the 2020 All-Star Game.
