NBA

However, on August 23, 2010, as a free agent , he was accepted by the Houston Rockets , where he was able to record 2.6 points and 2.3 assists per game. During the season he was transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies together with Shane Battier against Hasheem Thabeet , DeMarre Carroll and a later first-round pick , where he got even less playing time in the 15 games he played in the Grizzlies jersey and only because of that 1.8 points per game.

After this season, he was the Golden State Warriors obliged, where he played but just six games and shortly thereafter in the NBA D-League for the farm team Los Angeles D-Fenders was sent. However, he did not play a game for the D-Fenders and was accepted by the Orlando Magic shortly thereafter . So far he has completed 20 games there.

In February 2013, Smith was transferred from the Magic to the Milwaukee Bucks in an exchange deal . On August 29, 2013 he was transferred to the Phoenix Suns together with Viacheslav Kravtsov in exchange for Caron Butler . In the summer of 2014, he was briefly under contract with the Houston Rockets, before he was signed at the beginning of the NBA 2014/15 by the Thunder from Oklahoma City, who were shaken by several injuries, including Kevin Durant . The Thunder had to apply for an exemption, as they already had 15 players in the squad. After the exemption expired, it was not Smith who was dismissed, but instead his colleague Sebastian Telfair .

During the 2014-15 season , Smith moved to the Philadelphia 76ers . He finally landed with the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer of 2015, but Smith was transferred back to Philadelphia in December. At the Sixers he scored 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists in the last 50 games. In the summer he left the Sixers and signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons .
