Donald Whiston

Donald Francis Whiston (born June 19, 1927 in Lynn , Massachusetts - † July 11, 2020 ) was an American ice hockey goalkeeper and coach .

Career

Donald Whiston first attended the renowned elite school Phillips Exeter Academy before studying at Brown University . With an average of 1.6 goals conceded per game, he was the best goalkeeper in Brown University's history and was recommended for the 1952 Winter Games. He then worked as a businessman. In the early 1960s he was also head coach of the Brown University ice hockey team for three seasons.

International

For the USA Whiston took part in the Winter Olympics in Oslo in 1952 , where he won the silver medal with his team.
