Ruth Foster

Ruth Foster (born January 29, 1920 in Cincinnati , Ohio - † May 12, 2012 in Del Mar , California ) was an American actress .

Life

Ruth Foster began her artistic career as a dancer . She has won 12 years ago the first prize in a the Shubert Theater on Broadway in New York City focused Fred Astaire -and- Ginger Rogers -Tanzwettbewerb. She initially danced with various touring dance theater groups; later she got a contract as a dancer and showgirl with the Latin Quarter Show .

After a few years as a dancer, she switched to acting. She had a recurring series role from 1962 to 1964 as Miss Fleming in the doctor series Ben Casey . Her best-known role was from 1974 to 1983 as Mrs. Melinda Foster in the US television series Our Little Farm . She embodied the role of the owner of the post office in Walnut Grove in over 60 episodes. She played this role in 1983 and 1984 in two television films for the series Our Little Farm - The End of Walnut Grove (1983) and Our Little Farm - Where's Rose (1984), which were shot as follow-up films to the series.

She also had minor episode roles and guest roles in various American television series , including The Spike Jones Show (1957), Dimension 5 (1966), Bonanza (1969) and An Angel on Earth (1989).
