The Shubert Theater is a theater in Manhattan , New York City named after the owners, The Shubert Organization . There have been and are several theaters and cinemas in the United States with this name.

The New York building is located at 225 West 44th Street. The building was constructed by the architect Henry Beaumont Herts and opened in 1913. The theater has 1,460 seats for visitors. The longest running production at the Shubert Theater was the musical A Chorus Line , which ran from 1975 to 1990 at the Shubert Theater.

The Tony Awards ceremony took place in 1967 and 1968, 1974 and 1976 to 1979 and 1985 at the Shubert Theater.
