NBA

Barnes at the Golden State Warriors

On March 29, he announced that he would sign up for the 2012 NBA Draft . He has attended four previous trial trainings at the Cleveland Cavaliers , Toronto Raptors , Charlotte Bobcats and Washington Wizards . In the draft he was selected in seventh place by the Golden State Warriors. In Oakland he met a talented team led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson , but they were only partially successful. Barnes started all 81 games in his rookie season, scoring 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per encounter. With the signing of Andre Iguodala, he moved on to the bench. However, its statistics remained almost unchanged. From his third season he started again and won the NBA championship with the Warriors in the 2014/15 season . The following year Barnes scored 11.7 points on average and again reached the NBA final with the Warriors. There they lost after a 3-1 lead at the end of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After his contract with the Warriors expired, Barnes became a free agent , which allowed the Warriors to participate in every offer for Barnes. Barnes signed a four-year contract of $ 94 million with the Dallas Mavericks . By signing Kevin Durant , the Warriors waived to draw level on the offer and the way for Barnes to move was free.

He achieved the highest point average of his time in Dallas in the 2016/17 season when he posted 19.2 points per game in 79 appearances. In February 2019, Barnes moved to the Sacramento Kings as part of an exchange deal , who in return gave up Zach Randolph  and Justin Jackson .

At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won the gold medal with the US selection.
