Oleksiy "Alex" Len ( Ukrainian Олексій Лень; born June 16, 1993 in Antrazyt , Ukraine ) is a Ukrainian basketball player who is currently under contract with the Sacramento Kings in the North American professional league NBA .

college

Len came to the United States from Ukraine at the beginning of his college career. He had to sit out 10 games initially, because he had come to use for BK Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk . He finished his freshman year with 6.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game and was already showing his potential. In his sophomore year he increased to 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. Particularly noticeable were the duels with NBA talents Nerlens Noel and Mason Plumlee , which Len won. Since then he has been considered the top pick for the upcoming NBA draft .

NBA

In the 2013 NBA Draft , Len was selected 5th by the Phoenix Suns . Due to injuries, however, he only played 42 of a possible 82 games, scoring 2.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. In his sophomore year Len saw more playing time under coach Jeff Hornacek and established himself in the starting five of the Suns during the season, where he brought it to 6.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. For the next few years, Len was a constant part of the rotation in the sporting unsuccessful Suns. However, he did not make the expected sporting breakthrough. In the summer of 2018, Len agreed to a two-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks .
