Lodovico Rocca

Lodovico Rocca (born November 29, 1895 in Turin ; † June 24, 1986 ibid), also written Ròcca , was an Italian composer .

As a student of Giacomo Orefice , he wrote operas in the late verismo style that were rarely performed. The works Morte di Frine , In Terra di Leggenda , Monte Ivnor and L'Uragano are known . Il Dibuk was his most successful opera; Renato Simoni wrote the libretto for this. It was performed at La Scala in Milan on March 24, 1934, directed by Franco Ghione. From 1940 to 1966 Lodovico Rocca was director of the State Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Turin.
