history

On May 30, 1992, the Brandenburg interior minister approved the formation of the Am Mellensee office, to which eight municipalities from the then Zossen district had come together. June 1, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. The Office Am Mellensee was formed according to the so-called Office Model 1, i. H. its own administration was set up. The following municipalities established the office (in the order in which they are named in the Official Journal):

  1. Gadsdorf
  2. Kummersdorf-Alexanderdorf
  3. Rehab
  4. Klausdorf
  5. Saalow
  6. Mellensee
  7. Sperenberg
  8. Kummersdorf estate

At the time of its founding in 1992 (as of December 31, 1992) it had 7,410 inhabitants.

As part of the municipal reorganization of the state of Brandenburg, six of the municipalities - Klausdorf, Kummersdorf-Alexanderdorf, Kummersdorf-Gut, Mellensee, Rehagen and Sperenberg - voluntarily merged to form the official municipality Am Mellensee. After that the Amt Am Mellensee consisted of only three communities. At the end of the municipal area reform, with effect from October 26, 2003, the municipalities of Gadsdorf and Saalow were incorporated by law into the now free municipality of Am Mellensee. A municipal constitutional complaint by the municipality of Saalow against the incorporation was partially rejected by the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg on August 18, 2005 and the rest was rejected.

Office Director

Manfred Donath was elected official director by the official committee of the Am Mellensee office; he started his service on August 1, 1992. 2000 was confirmed in office. He was elected mayor of the Am Mellensee community in a runoff election in November 2003.
