geography
Kummersdorf-Gut is located in the southern part of the municipality of Am Mellensee. It borders in the north on Kummersdorf-Alexanderdorf and Sperenberg , both districts of Am Mellensee, in the east on Sperenberg, in the south on Horstwalde (city of Baruth / Mark ) and Schönefeld (community Nuthe-Urstromtal ) and in the west on Gottow and Schöneweide (both districts from Nuthe-Urstromtal).
history
Around 1875 the Tegel firing range of the Prussian artillery testing commission was relocated to the Kummersdorfer Forest. Since 1891, a new manor district was created by separating 824 hectares of the Kummersdorf forest estate, 46 hectares of the Kummersdorf district and eight hectares of the Alexanderdorf district. By incorporating further areas of the Kummersdorfer Forest, the district increased to initially 911 hectares (around 1900), 1166 hectares (1931) to 2240 hectares (today). Smaller parts, such as the area around the command building, were incorporated into Fernneuendorf in 1929 . The community-free manor district was initially called Kummersdorf-Schießplatz. A settlement for civilian employees of the Wehrmacht was built on the edge of the shooting range , which was renamed Kummersdorf-Gut after 1945.
The Wehrmacht's Kummersdorf Army Research Center was located on site until 1945 , and it operated a development and testing center for new weapon systems ( Gottow research center ). Today the Historical-Technical Museum of the Kummersdorf test site is located there .
The Technical Museum Kummersdorf , which existed between 1999 and 2012, was located on the site of the former motor vehicle testing center (Verskraft) Kummersdorf .
