Schönefeld is a district of the municipality Nuthe-Urstromtal in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .

Geographical location

Schönefeld is located southwest of the community center. In the northeast is the district of Kummersdorf-Gut of the municipality of Am Mellensee . This is followed in a clockwise direction by Horstwalde and Schöbendorf (each to Baruth / Mark ) and the other districts of Nuthe-Urstromtal Lynow , Gottow and Schöneweide . The Hammerfließ, which arises in Dümde, flows through the district in a west-east direction.

History and etymology

The settlement was created in the 12th century by German immigrants north of the older town of Dümde , founded by Slavic settlers, and thus north of the Hammerfließ. The first mention of the place took place on July 26, 1444, as the lords of Pegau with Leipzig the place where the brothers Balthasar and Caspar von Schlieben mortgaged . In this document, the place appears as vnd an Schönefelt , which means something like "beautiful field". This means the location on the Hammerfließ, which enabled the residents to operate a water mill in addition to windmills. In addition to agriculture, lawn iron stone and ore were extracted. Schönefeld belonged to Saxony until 1815 , then to Prussia . The connection to the Royal Prussian Military Railway resulted in an economic boom in the town. In 1911 the parish therefore built a neo-Romanesque village church , among other things . On December 6, 1993, Schönefeld was incorporated into the new community of Nuthe-Urstromtal.
