The village of Lynow is one of 23 districts of the Nuthe-Urstromtal community in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .

Geographical location

Lynow borders Stülpe in the west and Schönefeld in the north , both of which are further districts of Nuthe-Urstromtal. In the east, the districts of Schöbendorf and Merzdorf join the municipality of Baruth / Mark . Most of the place is forested.

History and etymology

Lynow was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 15th century. The name is derived from the Slavic lin , which means something like flax . In the history of the place, however, the weavers were less active than farmers and workers who produced pitch . From 1444 to 1872 Lynow was ruled by the Baruth lordship. In 1815, the place came under the influence of the Kingdom of Saxony in the course of the Congress of Vienna . At the time of the GDR was on the district of verbunkerte telecommunications node of the 118th Brigade News ( ) the GSSD (from 1989 Wesgruppe of troops - WGT).

On December 6, 1993, Lynow was incorporated into the new Nuthe-Urstromtal community.

Culture and sights

Oskar Barnack Museum
  • The Oskar Barnack Museum in honor of the Lynow-born inventor of the 35mm camera is located in the village . There are annual events under the title photo vacation with Oskar to introduce children and young people to photography.
  • A memorial in the center of the village commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars .
  • The homestead at Oskar-Barnack-Straße No. 1 is a listed building.
  • The Lynower Sandworms regularly hold volleyball tournaments .

Economy and Infrastructure

In addition to a few small businesses, an engineering office, a DJ and a farm are active in the village. Another company operates an outdoor solar energy system with a peak output of 1,562 k Wp .

Landstrasse 73 runs through the village in a west-east direction, which, as Baruther Landstrasse and continuing as Oskar-Barnack-Strasse, connects to Stülpe and Schöbendorf. In a southerly direction, Merzdorfer Straße runs into the eponymous district, while to the north, the street Zur Horstmühle leads to a former restaurant in an old mill building. The transport company Teltow-Fläming serves the place with the line 719 from Klasdorf in Baruth / Mark to Luckenwalde .
