Berkenbrück is a district of the municipality Nuthe-Urstromtal in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .

Berkenbrück is located in the Baruther glacial valley about seven kilometers north of the city center of Luckenwalde . Surrounding towns are Hennickendorf in the north, Mertensmühle in the northeast, Liebätz and Ruhlsdorf in the east, the city of Luckenwalde in the south, the Luckenwalde district of Frankenfelde in the southwest, Gottsdorf in the west and Dobbrikow in the northwest.
Berkenbrück is located on Landesstrasse 71, which connects the place with Luckenwalde and the federal highway 10 . The federal highway 101 from Ludwigsfelde to Jüterbog is about five kilometers away.
history
Berkenbrück was first mentioned in a document in 1295. At that time the village was called Berkenbrügge , which roughly means place on a birch bridge . Berkenbrück belonged to the Zinna monastery from its first mention until 1553 . In the Thirty Years' War Berkenbrueck was destroyed in 1642 who lived only village mayor in the village.
Berkenbrück belonged to the parish of Frankenfelde until at least 1937 . Today Berkenbrück is part of the Hennickendorf parish, which belongs to the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .
On April 29, 1992, the public law agreement for the establishment of the Nuthe-Urstromtal office was made in the Berkenbrücker restaurant Zur Recreation .
Berkenbrück has always been part of the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Luckenwalde district in the Potsdam district . After the reunification , Berkenbrück was in the Luckenwalde district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Berkenbrück was finally assigned to the newly formed Teltow-Fläming district and merged with 22 other previously independent communities to form the new community of Nuthe-Urstromtal .
The mayor of Berkenbrück is Dieter Katzung (as of 2017).
