Haim (pronounced "Hai-em") is an American pop-rock - band from Los Angeles . The members are the sisters Danielle Haim (* 1989 ), Alana Haim (* 1991 ) and Este Haim (* 1986 ). Live they are supported by their cousin on drums.

history

In her parents' living room there was no piano, but a drum kit. All three sisters loved classic rock and formed a cover band called Rockinhaim together with their parents at a young age , in which their father Mordechai was the drummer and their mother Donna was the singer. In February 2012, Haim's EP Forever was the first sound carrier and video to be put on the web and made available for free download for a short time. This EP has also been available on 10 "vinyl since September 2012. After that, the record company Polydor signed it. Several live appearances followed, including as support act for the group Mumford & Sons on their US tour in August for Florence + the Machine in December 2012 on their UK / Ireland tour and in 2013 on the European tour of the indie pop band Phoenix .

The BBC 's Sound of 2013 forecast predicted the breakthrough for the following year. They took first place out of 15 nominees.

In June 2013, Haim finished work on their first album Days Are Gone , which was released on September 30th. In 2014 Haim took part in the Rock am Ring festival. Here they played a classic by Fleetwood Mac from 1969, Oh Well . In doing so, they may not be compared with the group, just as they are not announced as a "girl band" and then not taken seriously as independent musicians. At the 57th Annual Grammy Awards 2015, the band was nominated in the category Best New Artist .

For the release of her third studio album Women in Music, Pt. III , a band portrait was broadcast on the ARD cultural program ttt on June 28, 2020 . The album name Women in Music was chosen according to its own announcement, in order to counteract the usual "insulting" moderator questions like "How does one feel as a woman in the music business?" The album producer was again Ariel Rechtshaid. 5 of the 16 album tracks were released as singles in the months before the album was released.
