Little Big Town
Little Big Town is an American country band from Homewood , Alabama .
Band history
The two college friends Kimberly Roads and Karen Fairchild from Georgia laid the foundation stone for the band in the 1990s, which was completed in 1998 with the two Arkansas singers Jimi Westbrook and Phil Sweet. A first record deal with Mercury was terminated due to musical differences, only with the label Monument , which had previously been successful with the Dixie Chicks , the career of Little Big Town began . The debut album with the band name as the title and the first singles Don't Waste My Time and Everything Changes brought moderate success. The breakthrough came in 2005 with the album The Road to Here , which narrowly missed the top 10 of the country charts, but sold over a million times and went platinum , as did the single Boondocks . Both also earned them a Grammy nomination , and they were nominated for an award four times at the CMA Awards .
With the album A Place to Land they could not repeat the success two years later, but they had now established themselves as a firm country great. Due to extensive tours and side projects, it took until 2010 until the fourth album The Reason Why was finished. This was the first time they came to number 1 on the country charts and reached number 5 on the official Billboard 200. The song Little White Church was their third hit in the top 10 of the country charts.
Little Big Town had their greatest success so far in 2012 with the song Pontoon . Not only was it her first country number one single, the song sold over two million copies. There was also a Grammy Award for the best country performance in a group and the CMA Award for the single of the year . In 2012 and 2013 they were also named Singing Group of the Year by the CMA . The album Tornado that followed the single was her most successful and again a million seller. At the Grammy Awards 2016 they won two awards for the best country performance in a group and the best country song for the song Girl Crush . Two years later, the song Better Man from The Breaker album received a Grammy.
