Keyshia Cole

Keyshia Cole (* 15. October 1981 in Oakland , California ) is an American Soul - and R & B - singer .

Career

Cole - who until then had only worked as a songwriter - first gained attention in the spring of 2000 when she lent her voice as a guest performer on the most recent albums by D'Wayne Wiggins and Messy Marv. At the end of 2003 she was signed to A&M Records as a solo artist. The first public concerts, promo appearances and cameos in various music videos followed, before their debut album The Way It Is was released in the summer of 2005 , on which a large number of high-ranking productions by Alicia Keys , Kanye West and John Legend were found. The record sold more than a million units in the USA alone and produced a total of four more or less successful single releases. The singer was then featured in a six-part reality documentary entitled Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is , which accompanied Cole on tour.

In 2006 she played together with the Jamaican dancehall singer Sean Paul the track (When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me from the album The Trinity again. The remix was released in July of the same year as a single and theme song for the musical film Step Up and reached the top 5 on the US Billboard charts . Then Cole was among other things to hear on the new single releases by Young Jeezy and P. Diddy .

In the fall of 2007, her second album Just Like You was released , on which the singer worked with Kanye West, Missy Elliott , John Legend and R. Kelly . The video for the first single, Let It Go , starring Elliott and Lil 'Kim , was shot in Los Angeles .
