Raekwon
Raekwon (born January 12, 1970 in Brooklyn , New York ; real life Corey Woods ) is an American rapper . He is a member of the Wu-Tang Clan and has also released several solo albums. He is particularly characterized by his fast flow.
biography
Raekwon became a member of the clan in 1993 even before the first Wu Tang clan record Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers) was released . His first solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… was released in 1995 on Loud Records . It received rave reviews, but was not selling well at the time; today it is considered to be one of the most important hip-hop albums of the 1990s. Its storytelling ability has been compared to Kool G Rap by some critics , and the album was instrumental in bringing the themes of mafia and gangster films socially acceptable in hip-hop music.
Raekwon was involved in the next Wu-Tang album Wu-Tang Forever before releasing his next solo album Immobilarity in 1999. To the surprise of many, this record was not produced by the Wu-Tang house crew, but by newcomers. Critics and fans had mixed reactions to the album, but it sold the best of all of his solo records and was awarded a gold record . At that time he also worked with Ghostface Killah on his albums Supreme Clientele and Bulletproof Wallets as well as with Fat Joe and OutKast ( Skew It on the Bar-B ).
In December 2003, The Lex Diamond Story - Lex Diamond is a New York crime legend - was released, a record that was received rather negatively by critics and mixed with fans.
The next solo album by Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II , which was carried out by Dr. Dre , Busta Rhymes and RZA was produced originally in mid-2007 should Aftermath Entertainment label of Dr. Dre appear. Due to "communication problems" with Aftermath and Dr. Dre was postponed until 2008 and finally to 2009. In spring 2009 the rapper announced the completion of the album and named EMI Records as a label.
