The Lex Diamond Story (2003) Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II -

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II is the fourth solo album by Wu Tang clan member Raekwon . It was released on September 11, 2009 by the music label EMI as a sequel of Raekwon's debut album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… (1995).

Emergence

The idea of recording a sequel to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… had existed since 1997; It is due to the positive response from fans to the album. In 2005 Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II for the first time publicly announced as Executive Producer should Busta Rhymes act. In 2006, Raekwon announced that the album would be released on Dr. Dres label Aftermath Entertainment published and mainly by Dr. Dre are produced. An agreement with Aftermath was ultimately not reached, Dr. Dre only produced two tracks for the album. The publication originally announced for 2007 should then take place in March 2009; after further postponements to August and September, the work finally appeared in November 2009.

Guest Posts

Except for U-God and Ol 'Dirty Bastard , every member of the clan is represented on the album; Ghostface Killah in particular is strongly represented with eight contributions, as was already the case on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ... , and he can be seen again on the album cover. In addition to the rappers from the Wu-Tang Clan environment, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss , Styles P. , Beanie Sigel , Slick Rick and Lyfe Jennings are on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ... Pt. II to hear.

style

Musically most of the pieces are based on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II on samples from soul pieces and old films, primarily from the martial arts genre . Despite only three productions by RZA , it is based on the sound of the Wu-Tang albums released in the mid-1990s. This orientation was deliberately chosen by the producers.

The raps are often kept in the style of storytelling , the main theme is, in addition to the glorification of the Wu-Tang Clan, life in New York from the point of view of a mafia boss , which means that the album is not only aesthetically sound but also reminiscent of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ... oriented. Many terms from hip-hop jargon are used. Ason Jones is a tribute to the late 2004 Wu-Tang member Ol 'Dirty Bastard.
