Raheem DeVaughn (born May 5, 1975 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American R&B and neo-soul singer.

biography

To kick off his career, DeVaughn invested his talent contest winnings in some indie releases. Thereupon the label Jive noticed him and took him under contract. In June 2005 his debut album The Love Experience was released . It immediately made it into the top 50 of the US album charts. Guess Who Loves You More became a first hit song on the R&B charts.

DeVaughn had his big breakthrough with his second album Love Behind the Melody , which was released in early 2008. It topped the R&B charts and reached number 5 on the sales charts . The song Woman became his first hit in the official singles charts and earned him a Grammy nomination in the R&B category. The second single, Customer , received a Grammy nomination for best R&B song the following year.

In 2010, Raheem DeVaughn's third album followed, entitled The Love & War Masterpeace . It again made it into the top 10 of the official album charts, but overall remained behind its predecessor. The single releases were only successful in the R&B charts. Even so, it was nominated again for the 2011 Grammy Awards , this time in the Best R&B Album category .
