Lissie (* 21st November 1982 in skirt Iceland , Illinois as Elisabeth Maurus Corrin ) is an American folk rock - singer and songwriter .

life and career

Lissie was born in 1982 in Rock Island , Illinois and grew up there. She is the daughter of a doctor and an interior designer. She has been interested in singing and music since childhood. She played the lead role in the musical Annie at the age of nine.

She spent two years at Colorado State University in Fort Collins . During this time she played in the opening act of various musicians who performed in the city. Lissie worked with DJ Harry from SCI Fidelity Records on the song All My Life , which was televised by Dr. House , OC, California , Veronica Mars and Wildfire ran. After spending a semester abroad in Paris, she dropped out of studies in order to pursue her music career. In 2007, she produced a EP with four songs that also at the radio station KCRW-FM in Santa Monica , California in the show Morning Becomes Eclectic were played.

At the beginning of 2008 Lenny Kravitz invited her to the opening act of his Love Revolution Tour . A friend had previously referred him to Lissie's MySpace page. That same year, The Longest Road , a song she wrote with Morgan Page , reached # 4 on Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs . We met with the intention that he would remix one of my songs. […] But then we decided to record a completely new song , Lissie told the Quad-City Times . The Deadmau5 remix of The Longest Road was nominated for a 2009 Grammy nomination in the category "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical".

In November 2009 she released her EP Why You Runnin ' on the independent label Fat Possum Records . Why You Runnin ' was produced by Bill Reynolds, a member of the indie rock band Band of Horses . Her debut album, Catching a Tiger , was released on Columbia Records in June 2010 . In November 2011, Lissie released her EP Covered Up with Flowers on Fat Possum Records. This EP is a collection of five different cover songs. Among them are, with Bad Romance by Lady Gaga , Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi and Nothing Else Matters by Metallica , three songs that Lissie has already played during her live performances. In addition, Covered Up with Flowers contains two new cover songs . On the one hand there are Games People Play by Joe South and on the other hand The Ship Song by Nick Cave .

In October 2013 Lissie's second studio album Back to Forever was released , in February 2016 with My Wild West the third album and in March 2018 Castles .

During her performances, Lissie takes on singing and playing the guitar.

Lissie lived until 2015 in Ojai ( Ventura County , California ), a small town 100 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles , since then on a 4-hectare farm in Iowa .
