Charlie McDermott

Charlie McDermott (born April 6, 1990 in West Chester , Pennsylvania ) is an American actor and director .

Life

McDermott made his film debut in 2004 in M. Night Shyamalan's mystery thriller The Village . He then appeared in the television series Windy Acres . While working on the series he met the director Jay Craven, who told him about his film project Disappearances . After intensive training and a long casting process, he was given the role of 14-year-old Wild Bill Bonhomme , who smuggled whiskey with his father Quebec Bill (played by Kris Kristofferson ) during Prohibition . McDermott moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16around. This was followed by roles in various film and television productions.

His role as TJ in the drama Frozen River , opposite Melissa Leo and Misty Upham , earned him a nomination for Best Male Supporting Actor at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards .

From 2009 to 2018 he played the role of Axl Heck in the sitcom The Middle .
